GEOMATICS alias

SURVEYING ENGINEERING   or GEODESY AND PHOTOGRAMETRY ENGINEERING ..?

The word "Geomatics"; It is derived from the combination of the words Geo and Enformatic. Geomatics is a branch of science that deals with the measurement of spatial and physical parameters of objects that make up the Earth and Space with advanced engineering methods, storage in databases, processing, analysis and presentation of results.

Geomatics; measuring the whole or a certain part of the earth in metric sense with various techniques and producing four-dimensional map information by evaluating the obtained spatial data in computer environment; It is also a basic engineering discipline that deals with all kinds of measurement, calculation, analysis and visualization studies depending on location.

Geomatics / Surveying Engineering is one of the branches of engineering that is open to technological developments and applies contemporary technology best. Surveying and Cadastre Engineering, Geodesy and Photogrammetry Engineering are other names used to define this profession.

Geomatics engineering, weakness geodesy , digital photogrammetry , satellite image processing and analysis, global satellite systems (Global Navigation Satellite Systems-GNSS), geographic information systems, engineering surveys, laser scanning technology, cadastre within the scope of land management, real estate valuation and development and It conducts studies in the fields of land / city information system arrangements, land registry and cadastre databases, zoning applications, digital map production and disaster information systems.

In summary, the main purpose of geomatics / surveying engineering; The development and use of various spatial techniques based on modern technology to better understand, plan, organize, monitor and manage the earth we live in, production of various maps and spatial data / information for country needs (planning, property, defense, etc.), engineering projects and society, It is the precise determination of the location (horizontal and vertical) of any project related to space or land.

Information about the earth itself and the location of structures, objects and events on it is called geographic information or spatial information. Two or three dimensional coordinate systems derived from the geometric and physical parameters of the earth form the basis for the said position information. A map or plan can also be viewed as a spatial information transmission medium. Along with traditional, geodesy, photogrammetry, measurement, cartography and remote sensing issues, after the spatial / geographical information is obtained, it follows the processes of analysis, monitoring, visualization, transmission, storage, management, quality assurance and generating new information from this information. The whole of science, technology and applications of this process, which should be based on a system concept, is also defined as GEOMATICS.
